BANNER ELK, N.C. --- A quartet of LMC players registered double digits while the women's basketball team fell to Emmanuel (Ga.), 75-57, in a Conference Carolinas tilt Tuesday evening at Williams Gymnasium in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Lions (16-6, 12-6 CC) overcame a 21-turnover performance and rode an impressive offensive performance from Elise Coberly, who finished with a game-high 19 points. The Bobcats (5-19, 4-14) shot an efficient 95% (19-for-20) from the charity stripe.
EC responded with a 14-0 run over the next 6:33, powered by Coberly and Skye Rogers.
Rogers finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.
Freshman Mackenzie Blankenship (Elizabethton, Tenn.) chimed in with five points, but the Lions' Addie McNeely splashed a pair of threes to make it 25-11.
Both offenses became stagnant while only accounting for two buckets in the final 5:12 of the half.
EC carried a 31-16 lead into the break despite shooting 32.1% from the floor.
Senior Kabrina Truesdale (Wilmington, N.C.) tallied four of her team-high 13 points in a 70-second span.
Coberly and Rogers scored the Lions first 10 points of the second half while holding a comfortable 41-22 lead.
LMC sank 12 consecutive free throws while being held without a bucket for nine minutes.
The Bobcat offense caught some rhythm by hitting three three-pointers in a span of 1:13.
Freshman Olivia Unger (Lutz, Fla.) hit a jumper at the buzzer while EC's Alesia Fagin scored the final eight points for her squad.
Blankenship, Collins and Belcher finished with 10 points each.
The Bobcats welcome North Greenville Saturday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. for Senior Day at Williams Gymnasium. Truesdale and Belcher will be honored after the contest.
