BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Freshman Markia Stacey tallied an impressive 20 points, but the Lees-McRae women's basketball team dropped a 75-54 decision to Lincoln Memorial Wednesday evening at Williams Gymnasium in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Railsplitters (1-2) enjoyed double-doubles from Megan Pittman and Josey Harding. The Bobcats (0-3) saw freshman Alexis Ammons (Asheville, N.C.) grab eight boards to continue her hot start.
LMU crashed the boards throughout the contest and amassed 57 rebounds on the evening.
The visiting squad jumped out to a 10-0 lead following a pair of Sydnie Anderson free throws.
Sophomore Caitlin Brown (Kingstown, N.C.) knocked down a jumper at the 5:47 mark to put LMC on the board. Brown's jumper would be the only field goal made for the Bobcats in the first quarter.
The Bobcats would exchange buckets while Ammons hit a pair of jumpers in between a Stacey (Morganton, N.C.) to keep the deficit at 10, 21-11.
Brown and sophomore Lexus Norwood (Knoxville, Tenn.) scored buckets to spark an 8-2 run while the Bobcats shaved LMU's lead to six, 23-17.
Stacey stayed hot with a three at the buzzer at the end of the second quarter.
Both teams hit a scoreless drought in the third before LMC's Breana Hardnett (Greensboro, N.C.) sank the frontend of a pair of free throws.
Following a pair of LMC technical fouls, the Railsplitters extended their lead to 18, 44-26.
The Bobcats wouldn't back down while consecutive triples from Hartnett and sophomore Mackenzie Blankenship (Elizabethton, Tenn.) made it an 11-point game, 57-46.
LMU's defense clamped down and held LMC to only two field goals in the final 6:41.
Pittman finished with 11 points and 11 boards while Harding followed suit with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
