Women's Hoops Hangs Tight with No. 10 Limestone, 83-68

GAFFNEY, S.C. --- Four players notched at least 13 points while the Lees-McRae women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought battle to No. 10 Limestone, 83-68, in a Conference Carolinas tilt at the Timken Center Tuesday in Gaffney, S.C.

The Saints (10-0, 5-0 CC) exploded for 32 points in the first quarter while Jasmine Kearse poured in a game-high 44 points. The Bobcats (2-10, 1-4) saw Markia Stacey (Morganton, N.C.) connected on five three's.

Kearse knocked down 15 shots, including 11 triples in the contest.

LC jumped out to a 13-0 advantage of Kearse nailed a consecutive trio of shots from behind the arc.

The Saints used another 10 points from Kearse by the end of the first.

Stacey and Brea Forbes (Freeport, Bahamas) combined for 12 points while LMC dominated the frame with a 24-15 advantage.

Freshman Alexis Ammons (Asheville, N.C.) and sophomore Caitlin Brown (Kingstown, N.C.) ceased control of the third quarter while cutting the deficit to eight, 57-49.

Freshman Breana Hardnett (Greensboro, N.C.) tallied a career-high 14 points while snagging five rebounds.

The Bobcat bench outscored LC's, 32-6.

Brown snagged a team-high 11 boards.

LMC continues its month-long road trip with a trek to Converse Friday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
