BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's basketball team will head to Georgia Saturday to take on Young Harris in a non-conference matchup. LMC enters Saturday's game with a record of 0-2 after dropping a pair of games last weekend to Mars Hill and Tusculum. The game against the Mountain Lions is scheduled to get underway at 1:30 p.m.
Scouting the Bobcats – LMC has been led so far this season by a trio of underclassmen in Markia Stacey, Jordan Soares and Brea Forbes. Stacey paces the team averaging 13.5 points per game and also leads the Bobcats in accuracy from three-point range (46.7 percent). Soares and Forbes, meanwhile, are also averaging over 10 points per game (13.0 and 11.0 respectively). The duo of Soares and Forbes are also averaging at least seven rebounds per contest.
Scouting the Mountain Lions – Like the Bobcats, Young Harris will be trying to notch its first win of the 2016-17 season Saturday. The Mountain Lions did pick up an exhibition victory over Western Carolina prior to the start of their regular season.
Meredith Tarver was the top performer for Young Harris in its lone game of the season scoring 22 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists. Despite the stellar numbers by Tarver, the Mountain Lions dropped that game by a 70-65 final score to Lee.
