BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's basketball team will play its fourth home game in 11 days Saturday when it hosts Barton at Williams Gymnasium. The game, which is slated for a 2 p.m. start time, will also be the team's annual Pink Out game where all fans are encouraged to wear pink in an effort to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Last Time Out – LMC, now 4-19 overall on the season, saw its three-game winning streak snapped Tuesday when it lost to Emmanuel (GA), 52-49. Sophomore Markia Stacey led the Bobcats with 21 points in the loss to the Lions.
Steal Stat – Both Brea Forbes and Stacey rank in the top 10 among Conference Carolinas in steals with totals of 47 and 50, respectively. The duo also are LMC's top two scorers on the season averaging 11.9 and 13.2 points per contest.
Bobcats from long distance – Lees-McRae has made 136 three-pointers this season, which is 26 more than its opponents. LMC currently ranks fifth in the conference in three-pointers made as a team.
Finishing Strong in February – Sophomore Breana Hardnett has led LMC averaging 18.7 points per game in the month of February. Hardnett, who is averaging 10.8 points per game overall on the season, has been especially productive at the free throw line connecting on 16 of her 20 attempts from the line in February.
Series Rewind – The Bulldogs have held the edge in the series over recent years as they have won five straight from the Bobcats. LMC's last win over Barton came on Jan. 15, 2014 when it defeated Bulldogs 84-72 in Banner Elk.
