BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's basketball team rallied from a five-point halftime deficit to upend UVa-Wise in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at Williams Gymnasium, 84-79. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 3-5 on the season.
Neither team had much issue shooting from long distance in the opening 20 minutes as both squads connected on six three-pointers. Lees-McRae would rally in a major way in the third quarter. Coming out of the locker room, the Bobcats went on an 11-0 run to pull in front of the Cavaliers for good as they ended up winning Saturday's contest 84-79. UVa-Wise was within one or two possessions most of the second half, including with 20 seconds remaining in the contest but LMC held on for third victory of the season.
The duo of Brea Forbes and Markia Stacey led Lees-McRae Saturday afternoon with 25 and 24 points, respectively. Forbes grabbed five rebounds and added five steals, while Stacey paced the Bobcats with six rebounds and five assists. Karli Mason also finished in double figures for LMC Saturday with 12 points.
