WILSON, N.C. – Lees-McRae College women's basketball player Markia Stacey was named to the All-Conference Carolinas Third Team Thursday afternoon at the league banquet in Wilson, N.C. Stacey is the first all-conference player for the Bobcats since the 2012-13 season.
Stacey was an important part of Lees-McRae's turnaround this season as she and the Bobcats improved their record by six wins from a season ago finishing 10-17 overall. Additionally, Lees-McRae also made its first appearance in the Conference Carolinas women's basketball tournament since the 2013-14 season.
Individually, Stacey led all Conference Carolinas players with 153 assists this season, while also pacing the league in assists per game (5.9). Her 153 assists, which broke the program's single season record by two, ranks 13th nationally among Division II players. Her assist per game mark, meanwhile, ranked 10th nationally.
In addition to her assist numbers, Stacey averaged 11.0 points, 1.9 steals and a career-high 4.3 rebounds per game in 26 contests in 2017-18.
