TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's basketball team earned a season sweep of North Greenville with a 64-59 victory on the road in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday (Jan. 26).

Game Summary - North Greenville would jump out to an 8-0 lead over the first 1:41, before Lees-McRae would finally get on the board with back-to-back jumpers from Alexis Ammons. Journey Muhammed would score to put the Crusaders back up by eight, before back-to-back three-pointers from Markia Stacey and Brea Forbes would get the Bobcats back within two. Lees-McRae would go on a 7-3 run to end the quarter and take a 17-15 lead after 10 minutes.

North Greenville would jump out to a 23-18 lead over the first two minutes and change, before a layup from Stacey and a long ball from Destiny Johnson would tie the game at 23 with five minutes to play in the half. As the second quarter media timeout came and went, the two teams were deadlocked at 26 heading into the final two minutes of the half. North Greenville would take a two-point lead on a pair of Savannah Hughes free throws with just over a minute to play that would serve as the final points of the half and send North Greenville to the locker room with a 28-26 lead.

An early sequence left the teams tied at 35 in the first two minutes and change of the second half, before a slow next few minutes left the teams tied at 38 past the halfway point of the third quarter. Muhammed and Breana Hardnett would trade three-pointers, before two Tyana Saunders free throws and a layup from Markia Stacey represented the final points of the quarter for each team. The game went to the final 10 minutes tied at 43.

Lees-McRae would win the fourth quarter 21-16 on their way to the victory and season sweep. A quick scoring flurry from each team left the game locked at 51 just under four minutes into the quarter, before an old-fashioned three-point play from Forbes put the Bobcats up 54-51 with five minutes and change to play. As the game ticked down into the final four minutes, Stacey recorded a steal and a breakaway layup to stretch the Bobcats' lead to six. Lees-McRae would carry that lead into the final two minutes, before a split pair of free throws from Stacey would leave the Bobcats up by seven. After a sequence just before the 1:30 mark, Stacey was assessed a technical foul and Karen Donehew would make both free throws to get the lead back down to five. Haylee Lutrell would score a layup with 46 seconds left to get the Crusaders back within four, before Stacey would return to the free throw line to sink them both with nine seconds remaining. Hughes and Lakitia Basnight would trade layups to end the game, with the Bobcats securing their second straight league win.

Forbes led the way scoring 20 points, notching her ninth-straight double figure scoring effort. Stacey was the only other Bobcat to score in double figures with 17 points. Lees-McRae pulled down 30 rebounds in the contest, with eight on the offensive end and 22 on the defensive end. Ammons led the effort on the glass with six rebounds in the contest.
