AUSTIN, Texas - Lees-McRae College women's basketball senior guard Brea Forbes was recently named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday (Feb. 21).

Forbes was voted to the first team in District 3, which is made up of institutions in Conference Carolinas, the South Atlantic Conference and the Peach Belt Conference. She is only female honoree from Conference Carolinas, while Ben Ferguson of Belmont Abbey College is the lone men's representative from the league. Members of the Google Cloud Academic All-District teams are nominated and voted on by sports information professionals and members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.

This is Forbes's first career Academic All-District selection. Forbes has played in 110 games in her Lees-McRae career, starting in all but three of them. In those 110 games, she has averaged 30.8 minutes per game. She has scored 1,358 points in her career, after becoming just the 10th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark on Nov. 19 against Catawba. She is also in the career top 10 all-time in program history for scoring average (12.0, tied for 10th), field goals made (472, eighth), field goals attempted (1,298, sixth), three-pointers made (138, tied for sixth), three-pointers attempted (459, seventh), free throws made (276, eighth), free throws attempted (405, ninth), rebounds (759, fifth), rebounding average (6.9, seventh), steals (207, fifth), blocks (64, sixth), blocks per game (0.6, tied for seventh) and career games played (110, tied for fourth). She is also on the single-season all-time list for steals per game with 2.5 (tied for ninth). Academically, she has been named to the Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference team once and has also been named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll each of her four years.

The Freeport, Bahamas native is the daughter of Carolyn and Bradley Forbes, and is a business administration major with concentrations in finance and accounting along with a minor in athletic coaching.
