Women’s Basketball set to host Southern Wesleyan and Mount Olive

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's basketball team will return home this week for a pair of Conference Carolinas games. First, the Bobcats will host Southern Wesleyan on Wednesday before welcoming Mount Olive to the High Country on Saturday. Tip-off for Wednesday's game is set for 5:30 p.m., while Saturday's contest is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.

Last Time Out – Lees-McRae dropped its last contest at Barton on Saturday by a score of 91-48. The loss pushes LMC's record to 7-18 overall and 4-13 in conference action.

Back on the Mountain – The Bobcats will be home for their next three games beginning with Wednesday's contest. Lees-McRae has enjoyed quite a bit more success playing at Williams Gymnasium as opposed to on the road as six of its seven wins have come on its home floor.

Steal Stats – A strength for the Bobcats this season has been their ability to generate turnovers. Lees-McRae ranks second in the conference and 40th nationally with 237 steals on the season. Destiny Johnson has led this charge with a team-high 38 steals.

About the Opponents – Southern Wesleyan enters this week's action sporting a 3-20 overall record and a 3-14 mark in conference play. Despite the sub-.500 record, the Warriors have won their last two games against Emmanuel (64-58) and Converse (57-54). Emily Waters is a player to watch for SWU as she is averaging a team-high 11.4 points per game.

Mount Olive, meanwhile, sits near the top of the conference standings heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. UMO is 16-6 overall and 13-5 in conference action. Jada Bacchus has been UMO's top player leading the Trojans in both scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounding (8.9 rpg).

Series Rewind vs. Opponents – Lees-McRae has faced off against both Southern Wesleyan and Mount Olive earlier this season. SWU knocked off the Bobcats in mid-December, 81-67, and Mount Olive also defeated Lees-McRae, 70-53, in mid-January.
