LMC Women's Lacrosse Performs at High Level in Two Resounding Wins

EAST POINT, Ga. --- Freshman Peyton LeCompte amassed eight goals and junior Jenah Tracy was selfless by dishing out 12 assists while the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team hammered Ave Maria, 19-1, before using a strong second half to beat Point University, 15-7, at Tri-Cities High School Saturday afternoon in East Point, Ga.

LMC played an uncharacteristic lacrosse doubleheader in back-to-back fashion; which required 120 minutes of action in a three-hour window.

Junior Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) sparked a 10-0 shellacking in the first 30 minutes by netting a hat trick in the first 9:23 of play.

The Bobcats (2-2) scored multiple goals in the 10th, 19th and 21st minute while Tracy (Naples, Fla.) dished out two of her six assists in the first half.

Tracy dished out an assist on each of LMC's first three goals in the second half while Tiffany Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) notched her third goal of the contest at the 22:55 mark in the second half.

Junior transfer Tiffany Hanes (Dickinson, Texas) tallied her first goal as a Bobcat late in the second half, giving LMC an 18-1 lead.

Drake led all scorers with four goals while a trio of Bobcats had three goals.

Sara Henderson (Huntersville, N.C.) impressed defensively with five groundballs while Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) turned in 40 minutes of shutout netminding.

LMC outshot AMU (2-6) 36-4.

LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) turned in her third six-goal effort as a freshman while Tracy earned the assist on four of them.

The first half was a see-saw battle, but the powerful Tiffany duo (Hanes & Laster) put LMC (3-2) up 7-3 on a man-up situation.

Hanes earned the assist while Laster scored one of her four goals.

PU's (6-2) Grace Beardsley sparked a 4-2 run to end the half while the Bobcats held a slim 8-6 lead at the break.

Coach Ray Cameron's squad and Emmerson played stellar defense by shutting out the Skyhawks for 24:17 of the second half.

LeCompte notched four goals in the second half to help LMC win the half 7-1.

Drake led the squad with nine groundballs. Emmerson finished with 13 saves, including four crucial ones in the middle of the second half.

The Bobcats travel to Converse Thursday, March 19 at 4 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
