SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- Six different players scored a goal, led by three from freshman Peyton LeCompte while the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team battered Converse, 9-4, in a Conference Carolinas affair in sloppy conditions Thursday afternoon at Hayden Abney Fulp in Spartanburg, S.C.
The Bobcats (4-2, 2-0 CC) are on a tear as of late and have won four consecutive games and only allowed 12 goals in the last three contests. The Valkyries (5-4, 2-2) saw their five-game win streak come to a halt despite forcing 17 turnovers.
Freshman LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) has been a dominant force for Coach Ray Cameron while scoring at least three goals in four of LMC's six games.
Reigning Conference Carolinas Player of the Week Jenah Tracy (Naples, Fla.) gave LMC an early 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal at the 19:40 mark.
CC tied it 2:25 later thanks to Elizabeth Gabriele.
Both defenses clamped down while neither team was able to find the back of the net until the under two-minute mark.
The Valkyries took a short-lived lead after Chelsea Worrell scored.
LeCompte tied it 16 seconds later with an unassisted goal.
The Bobcats cranked up the defense in the second half by allowing only two goals while junior Tiffany Hanes (Dickinson, Texas) played a crucial role in LMC's 5-0 run to start the second half.
The talented transfer scored an unassisted goal 4:11 into the second half before feeding LeCompte an assist minutes later.
Casey Reagan (Midlothian, Va.) continued her impressive freshman campaign by tallying a goal and has scored in five of six contests.
Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) paced the Bobcats with seven shots while five players scooped two groundballs each.
Junior Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) was a strong force at goal by amassing a season-high 18 saves.
