YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. --- Five players had multi-goal games, including a team-high from freshman Peyton LeCompte, but the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team was upended, 21-15, in a slugfest with Young Harris Saturday afternoon in Young Harris, Ga.
The Mountain Lions (8-2) were led by Alexia Audet and Meghan Tonnesen. The Bobcats (4-3) saw their four-game win streak snapped while LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) has scored three goals or more for the third consecutive game.
Sophomore Callie Gregg (Roanoke, Va.) impressed early and often by notching a pair of goals in the first 2:51 of action.
Gregg has scored at least two goals in four of the last five games.
YHC responded with five unanswered goals, but LMC's Tiffany Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) recorded a hat trick in a span of 10:01 to tie it at seven.
Laster dished out an assist and Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) scored one of her two goals at the 5:50 mark in the first half to send the contest into the half tied at nine.
Junior Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) was active in goal and racked up 12 saves in the first 30 minutes.
The offense display continued throughout the second while Tracy found the back of the net twice in 34 seconds.
The Mountain Lion ripped off a 6-0 run when Nicole Kernohan and Audet combined for four goals.
Casey Reagan (Midlothian, Va.) and LeCompte scored within a minute of one another to cut the deficit to three, 16-13.
YHC finished the contest on a 5-2 run to conclude the high-scoring affair.
Both teams were successful on clear attempts by posting a mark of 75% or better.
Freshman Sara Henderson (Huntersville, N.C.) led the team with four draw controls while Tonnesen paced YHC with seven.
The Bobcats travel to Tigerville, S.C. to take on North Greenville Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m. in a Conference Carolinas battle.
