FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. --- LMC freshmen duo of Tiffany Laster and Peyton LeCompte combined for 10 goals, but Emmanuel's (Ga.) goal with 23 seconds remaining proved to be the difference while the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team fell short, 14-13, in a Conference Carolinas game at the Emmanuel Lacrosse Field Monday evening in Franklin Springs, Ga.
The Lions (5-7, 2-5 CC) were led Megan Hart's five-goal effort. The Bobcats (5-4, 3-1) used five goals each from LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) and Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) while Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) amassed seven saves.
LeCompte currently sits third in the conference with 36 goals while junior Jenah Tracy (Naples, Fla.) is second in assists with 25.
Both teams exchanged blows the first half while a Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) goal at the 13:44 mark tied the contest at five.
EC responded with a 4-2 run to end the half to take a 9-7 lead into the intermission.
The Lions pushed the lead to four, 11-7, after goals form Savannah Gratz and Hart.
Gratz was one of three EC players to notch a hat trick.
The Bobcats wouldn't go down easily and fought back to tie the contest at 13, thanks to a 6-2 run.
Laster and LeCompte combined to score all six goals.
With time winding down, EC's Tara Larson scored the game-winner with 23 ticks on the clock.
