Women's Lacrosse Falls at Belmont Abbey

BELMONT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae junior Taylor Drake scored a pair of goals, but the women's lacrosse team was defeated, 22-3, by Belmont Abbey in a Conference Carolinas game Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field in Belmont, N.C.

The Crusaders (8-6, 3-3 CC) were powered by Katy Connery, who had six goals, six groundballs and five draw controls. The Bobcats (7-6, 3-3) forced 13 turnovers.

BAC jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) notched an unassisted goal halfway through the first half.

Freshman Tiffany Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) tallied a goal on the contests' lone free-position shot with 20:03 left in the second half.

The Crusaders had four players' notch hat tricks outside of Connery's six-goal effort.

Drake recorded her second goal with 1:26 left on the clock.

Goalie Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) led the team with four groundballs while freshman Peyton LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) had three.

The Bobcats travel to Limestone Wednesday, April 15 at 4 p.m. for a CC tilt in Gaffney, S.C.
