BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Sophomores Peyton LeCompte and Tiffany Laster combined for seven goals while Jenah Tracy dished out three assists while the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team thwarted Converse, 10-7, in a Conference Carolinas game Thursday afternoon at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Bobcats (3-5, 2-2 CC) had three players scoop five groundballs apiece while senior Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) made 10 saves. The Valkyries (3-7, 2-3) trailed the whole game while Elizabeth Gabriele turned in three goals.

Tracy (Naples, Fla.) snagged a picture-perfect pass from Callie Gregg (Roanoke, Va.) and scored 68 seconds into the contest.

Dual-athlete Kate Brandon (Charlotte, N.C.) notched her second goal of the season with 25:03 remaining in the first half, 2-0, while Tracy delivered her first assist.

LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) scored the next four Bobcat goals while Gabriele notched a pair.

Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) earned an assist on LeCompte's second tally.

Gregg corralled a pass from sophomore Sara Henderson (Huntersville, N.C.) and put coach Lexi King's squad up 7-4 early in the second half.

Converse responded with a pair of goals to cut the deficit to one, 7-6.

Laster struck twice in a 36-second span after LeCompte's fifth to put the contest out of reach.

LMC's defense played tough throughout and held strong at the end, withstanding a push from the Valkyries.

Gregg, Laster and Tracy scooped five groundballs each. Junior Chartella Taylor (Winston-Salem, N.C.) joined Joelle-Sara Prata (New Bedford, Mass.) and the Bobcat defense to stymie Converse for most of the contest.

LMC enjoys a nine-day break before trekking to Due West, S.C. to battle Erskine at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2.
