Women's Lacrosse Falters at Shorter

ROME, Ga. --- Sophomore Peyton LeCompte netted a hat trick and senior Mia Emmerson made a dozen saves while the Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-4 decision to Shorter Saturday morning at Ben Brady Field in Rome, Ga.

The Hawks (4-10) had five players score multiple goals while the team was a perfect 15-for-15 on clear attempts. The Bobcats (4-8) caused 12 turnovers and went 12-for-13 on clear attempts.

With the hat trick, LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) is tied for the Conference Carolinas lead in goals with 41.

Shorter grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first 14 minutes before LeCompte found the back of the net with 14:38 remaining in the first half on a free-position attempt.

Following a pair of Hawks goals, LeCompte dished an assist to Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) at the 8:10 mark.

LMC cut the deficit to one, 4-3, only 51 seconds into the second half with another LeCompte goal.

Shorter embarked on a 6-0 run over a 16:28 span.

The Bobcats saw LeCompte's third goal happen with 5:58 remaining in regulation.

Senior Jenah Tracy (Naples, Fla.) scooped three groundballs while Tiffany Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) amassed three shots.

Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) currently leads the conference with 148 saves.

Coach Lexi King and the Bobcats welcome Newberry Wednesday, April 13 at 3 p.m. to Tate Field.
