Women's Lacrosse Offense Explodes for Season-High 19 in Dominating Win Against Newberry, 19-11

BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae women's lacrosse team exploded for a season-high 19 goals behind an eight-point effort from Peyton LeCompte and seven-point efforts from Tiffany Laster and Jenah Tracy while the team neutralized Newberry, 19-11, Wednesday afternoon at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Bobcats (5-8) scored 19 goals for the first time since a 20-19 win against Brevard April 1, 2015 while LeCompte (Carolina Beach, N.C.) turned in her second seven-goal game. The Wolves (5-9) had a pair of players turn in hat tricks while the team amassed three yellow cards.

Tracy (Naples, Fla.) started the high-scoring affair with a goal only 1:47 into action while Tiffany Laster (Jupiter, Fla.) earned the first of her game-high five assists.

It marks the second time this season Laster has delivered five helpers.

LeCompte tallied a goal moments later before Newberry responded with three unanswered, including two from Rachel Dillon.

Tracy netted two goals in a 55-second span while dishing an assist to Laster in between.

Senior Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) dropped one of her three assists to Tracy's goal at the 12:40 mark.

Following a LeCompte goal, senior Kate Brandon (Charlotte, N.C.) notched her fourth goal on the season to extend the lead to four, 7-3.

Callie Gregg (Roanoke, Va.) was the benefactor of LeCompte's lone assist with 6:25 remaining in the first half.

The Wolves trimmed the lead to two, 8-6, before another LeCompte goal put LMC up 9-6 at the break.

After exchanging goals in the first four-plus minutes of the second frame, coach Lexi King's offense caught fire and ripped off a 6-0 run.

Tracy, Laster and LeCompte were responsible for all the goals.

Newberry followed suit with a 3-1 spurt.

Gregg and Brandon ripped the back of the net in the final 2:36 wile Drake and Laster earned assists, respectively.

LeCompte currently sits atop Conference Carolinas with 48 goals.

Senior Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) made seven saves and leads the conference in saves (155) and save percentage (52.9).

The Bobcats welcome Belmont Abbey for a CC contest Saturday, April 16 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day. Emmerson, Tracy, Drake, Brandon and Ashley Ritter (Vero Beach, Fla.) will be honored prior to the contest.
