BANNER ELK, N.C. – Much like it did in 2016, the sixth-seeded Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team will head to third-seeded Belmont Abbey Wednesday to open up the Conference Carolinas tournament. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Last Time Out – LMC enters Wednesday's game against Belmont Abbey playing its best lacrosse of the season. The Bobcats went a perfect 2-0 last week with wins over Brevard (16-7) and Converse (12-11). With the pair of victories, the Bobcats closed out their regular season with a record of 5-9 overall and 3-7 in conference play.
Postseason Streak – Wednesday's contest will mark the third straight postseason appearance for the Bobcats. Coincidentally, Lees-McRae has matched up against Belmont Abbey in each of the three matchups.
Peyton putting up the points – Junior Peyton LeCompte has been a major reason why the Bobcats are 2-0 in their past two games. LeCompte has scored 13 points (12g, 1a) in those two games and also leads the team with eight ground balls.
Free-Position Stat – Sara Henderson currently leads the conference with a .571 free-position shot success rate. Henderson's percentage ranks 17th nationally among 174 players ranked.
Series Rewind – LMC fell to the Crusaders in its season-opener by a score of 23-1. In the postseason matchup between the two programs last season, Belmont Abbey also came out on top defeating Lees-McRae, 17-6.
