Bobcats drop a high-scoring tilt at Barton Friday, 22-11

WILSON, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team was defeated in conference play for the first time this spring Friday night as Barton knocked off the Bobcats in a high-scoring tilt, 22-11. The loss moves LMC's overall record to 1-3 and 1-1 in league play.

Lees-McRae's 11 goals Friday were split up amongst five different players. Leading this charge was senior Peyton LeCompte. LeCompte scored a season-high six goals and chipped in an assist as well for LMC. Fellow senior Constance Madden added two goals of her own to bring her season goal total to five. Tiffany Laster, Christy Caton, Beth Haynes accounted for the other three goals for Lees-McRae in the contest.

Defensively, the Bobcats could not slow down the Bulldogs. Barton scored 11 goals in both halves to accumulate its goal total in the game. The trio of Kayli Ashenfelter, Jenna Brunclik and Brooke Lonergan were especially dangerous combining for 20 of the team's 22 goals.

The Bobcats will be back in action Saturday when they take on Mount Olive on the road. Start time for that contest is set for noon.
