TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team trailed by as many as four goals Wednesday at North Greenville, but the Bobcats rallied to tie the game at 9-9 with 2:49 to go. Unfortunately, NGU netted a pair of goals in the final two minutes to edge the Bobcats, 11-9. The loss moves Lees-McRae's record to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in conference play.
The senior duo of Peyton LeCompte and Tiffany Laster paced the Bobcats at NGU with four points each. LeCompte scored four of the team's nine goals, while Laster scored two goals of her own and dished out two assists. Anna Lingle, Beth Haynes and Sara Henderson rounded out the goal scorers for the Bobcats Wednesday with one goal each.
Samantha Thomson, who did not start the game, took the loss in goal for LMC after coming in to relieve starter Dayna Decesare. Thomson played well making 13 saves in 19 shots faced in 42 minutes of action. Even with that effort, Thomson's record moves to 0-2 on the 2018 season.
Lees-McRae will have over a week until its next game, which will be April 6. In that contest, the Bobcats will host nationally-ranked Limestone at Tate Field. Start time for that game is set for 4 p.m.
