GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team fell in Conference Carolinas action at No. 10 Limestone by a score of 21-2 on Saturday (Apr. 13).
Game Summary - The Saints scored the first four goals of the game over the first five minutes and change, before Victoria Orozco got the Bobcats on the board with a free position goal just before the nine-minute mark. Limestone would score three goals over the next six minutes, before Madi Barry would score from Beth Haynes to get the Bobcats back within five. Limestone would score seven unanswered goals to end the first half and take a 14-2 lead to the break. In the second half, Limestone would score seven more goals while holding the Bobcats off the board.
Stats Rundown - Lees-McRae totaled eight shots in the contest, with seven of them on goal. Orozco and Barry tallied goals, while Haynes contributed one assist. The Bobcats totaled 18 ground balls in the game, led by a team-high five in goal from Emily Davidson. Samantha Thomson also saw time in goal and picked up four ground balls, while Haynes collected three and Orozco scooped up two. Four other Bobcats picked up one ground ball each. Lees-McRae also caused six turnovers in the game, with three from Haynes. Aley Shepard, Patterson Jones and Orozco also each caused one turnover in the game. With her caused turnover in the game, Shepard takes sole possession of sixth place for career caused turnovers with her 35th, passing Desiree Cox (34, 2008-09). Lees-McRae also won six draw controls on the day, led by three from Jones. Christa Tumminello won two, while Haynes also registered one. Thomson (0-4) took the loss in the cage, making seven saves. Bringing her career total to 134, Thomson needs just three more saves to tie Taylor Moody (134, 2011) for sixth on the career saves list. Davidson also saw 30:00 in the cage, making six saves.
