Hekman Named First Team All-CVAC

The Lees-McRae College Athletic Department is proud to announce that redshirt junior goalkeeper Anita Hekman (Toronto, Ontario) has been named to the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference women's soccer all conference first team.

Hekman, a tri-captain with the Lady Bobcats soccer program, and also a defender on the Lady Bobcats lacrosse team during the spring, started each game this season compiling a .894 save percentage to lead the conference in that category. Hekman was second in total saves with 126 and second in saves per game, averaging 8.4. She also finished the year with a 0.94 goals against average in 15 total games, good enough for third in the conference. The Lady Bobcats ended the season at 3-11-2 and failed to make the CVAC tournament. Seven of the eleven losses through the 2005 season were by one goal. With the graduation of only two seniors, the core of the Lady Bobcats will be returning in 2006 where the Lady Bobcats will look to be on the winning side of those one goal games.
