Lady Bobcats Lose CVAC Battle

The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats soccer team traveled to Queen's University Saturday afternoon to take on the Lady Royals in Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference play, losing 3-1. The loss drops the Lady Bobcats to 4-3 (1-1 CVAC).

Katherine Johnson got the Lady Royals on the board early, converting a Lisa Eisenopf pass for the 1-0 lead in the eighth minute. Hayley Pasko's shot from 25 yards sailed over the outstretched arms of Lady Bobcat keeper Anita Hekman (North York, ON) in the 26th minute, sending the home side into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

Johnson was on the attack again for the Lady Royals in the second, sending a left boot into the far right corner in the 68th minute for insurance. Maribeth Novak (pictured), Homer Glen, IL, broke the shutout for Lady Royals keeper Kristen Kornacki in the 71st minute with an unassisted goal.

Hekman finished the afternoon with 15 saves while Kornacki made 8 in the Lady Royals net.

The Lady Bobcats will return to action Monday afternoon at 2:30p.m. when they travel to King College for a non-conference match up.
