Tornado Blows Past Lady Bobcats

Banner Elk, NC--The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats hosted the King College Tornado in their home opener Wednesday evening, falling short by a 2-0 margin. The Lady Bobcats fall to 0-2 on the season while the Tornado even their record at 1-1.

The Tornado attacked aggressively and early, getting on the board in the eighth minute with a goal from Jena Rickard. The visitors would continue to pepper Lady Bobcats keeper Brittany Bolton (Roanoke, VA) with shots, but the freshman was equal to the task registering seven first half saves to keep the Tornado lead at one through halftime.

In the second the Tornado struck early, finding the back of the net in the 48th minute. Emma Wells' corner kick managed to find the back of the net, taking the wind out of the sails of the youthful LMC squad.

Bolton (pictured top left) would register nine saves in the contest while Tornado keeper Karmin Helton picked up one.

The Bobcats will hit the road this weekend with a pair of games. The Lady Bobcats will face Randolph-Macon Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm before traveling to Trinity for a 1:00pm contest Tuesday, September 4th.
