Royals Upend Lady Bobcats

BANNER ELK, NC--The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats hosted Conference Carolinas foe Queens University of Charlotte Monday evening in women's soccer action, falling 3-0 to the defending conference champions. The Lady Bobcats record falls to 2-8 (1-4 Conference Carolinas) while the Royals move to 3-6-1 (2-2-1).

Hayley Pasko gave the visitors the 1-0 lead in the 25th minute off a cross from Katherine Johnson. Pasko knocked down Johnson's cross, bringing the ball to her feet at the top of the box and firing a shot past Lady Bobcats keeper Brittany Bolton (Roanoke, VA). The Royals managed to hold the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Six minutes into the second, the Royals would strike again, as Erin Saleeby would send a ball over the head of Bolton after receiving a pass from Kari Byzewski at the top left of the 18 yard box. Fifteen minutes later, Johnson would add an insurance marker, recovering a loose ball in front of the net to give the Royals the 3-0 win.

Kristen Kornacki picked up a pair of saves in the Royals net before giving way to Michelle Landry in the 77th minute. Bolton would log all 90 minutes in the Lady Bobcat goal, earning eight saves.

The Lady Bobcats will be back in action Thursday September 27th when they host Milligan College in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
