Orangeburg, SC--The Lees-McRae women's soccer team traveled to Orangeburg, SC to close out their season against South Carolina State University, falling 2-0 to the Bulldogs. The Bobcats finish with a 3-7 conference record (5-15 overall).
The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first, scoring in the 11th minute with a header off a corner kick by Magaly Cerda. The remainder of the first half proved to be a defensive battle as neither team could get the ball past the other's keeper. USCS headed into half-time with a 1-0 lead.
The defensive tone of the game continued well into the second half. Lees-McRae took ten shots on goal during the game while the host managed to get off 14. However, in the 80th minute Elzabeth Govrik connected with Kelsey Mims to add another a point to the Bulldog's talley, resulting in 2-0 loss for LMC.
Brittany Bolton (Roanoke, VA) registered six saves for the Lady Bobcats in goal.
