BANNER ELK, N.C. -- Nick Whiting joins the Lees-McRae College women's soccer program as the assistant coach under first-year head coach Cally Morrill.
Whiting spent this past season at Catawba College, where he helped the Indians to a 13-5-2 record, a sixth-place ranking in the NSCAA Southeast Regional Poll and a trip to the South Atlantic Conference semi-finals. Whiting's primary responsibility at Catawba was recruiting, where he helped the Indians sign seven players on National Signing Day. He was also the goalkeeping coach. Under Whiting's guidance, the Indians had nine shutouts and recorded a .086 goals-against-average.
In 2008, Whiting was a graduate-assistant coach at Western Carolina University during their Southern Conference championship season. His primary responsibilities included game day operations and recruiting.
Prior to his time at WCU, Whiting spent a year at Jacksonville University as a media relations assistant for both the men and women's soccer teams and other sports.
Whiting also coached the U-11 FCCA Rowan Revolution while working at Catawba. He has previously worked summer soccer camps at Austin Peay, Western Carolina and Jacksonville.
A native of Panama City, Fla., Whiting is a 2007 graduate of the University of West Florida, having earned his B.A. in Communications with a specialization in Public Relations.
