Santerre named to ESPN Academic All-District team

BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College junior Brooke Santerre (Port Republic, Md.) has been named to the 2010 Academic All-District III Women's Soccer Team, presented by ESPN and selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), announced College officials Tuesday.

Santerre, a second-team selection, is the first player in program history to garner Academic All-District honors. The junior midfielder is in the midst of her best season of her career on the pitch, entering Thursday's matchup with Belmont Abbey College ranked third on the team with eight goals, seven assists, and 23 points.

Academically, Santerre carries an outstanding 3.96 cumulative grade point average while majoring in psychology. Santerre recently accomplished another career first, earning a spot on the 2010 Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Academic All-Conference team. The Port Republic, Md. native has also been listed on the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll for each of the last three semesters.

Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Thursday when the fourth-seeded Lady Bobcats travel to Belmont, N.C. to take on top-seeded Belmont Abbey in the quarterfinal round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The match is slated to kick off at 2 p.m.
