Bobcats set to take on four Division I foes this spring

BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team is scheduled to take the pitch against several imposing foes this spring, announced head coach Cally Morrill Tuesday with the release of the Bobcats' spring schedule.

Lees-McRae recently capped one of the best seasons in program history, advancing to the semifinal round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament and recording the program's highest win total since the 2000 campaign. Several Bobcats garnered individual recognition for their outstanding performance this fall, including Daktronics NCAA Division II all-Southeast Region Second Team selection MaryBeth Sullivan (Greensboro, N.C.), who led LMC with 14 goals and 37 points in her freshman campaign.

The Bobcats open the spring season on Feb. 19 at Tusculum College's annual indoor tournament, which limits each side to six players on the pitch. Lees-McRae then travels to Cullowhee, N.C. on Mar. 19 to take on Western Carolina University in a seven-per-side match, followed by a doubleheader against Mars Hill College and East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn.

Coach Morrill's side then returns to Cullowhee, N.C. for matches against Western Carolina, UNC Asheville, and Brevard College on Apr. 2 before wrapping up the spring season on Apr. 9 in Boone, N.C. with matches against Appalachian State University and Lenoir-Rhyne University.
