Women's Soccer Season Comes to End in Conference Carolinas Semifinals, 3-0

SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The No. 7-seeded Lees-McRae women's soccer team saw its season end with a 3-0 loss to No. 3 Pfeiffer in a Conference Carolinas Semifinal Friday night in Spartanburg, S.C.

The Falcons (12-6-2) advance to play No. 4 Belmont Abbey for the conference title while Gretchen Dettlinger tallied two goals on the evening. The Bobcats (7-11-1) saw seniors Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.), Ariana Smith (Jackson, N.J.), Kaitlyn Briggs (Oviedo, Fla.) and junior Rachael Nobbs (North Charleston, S.C.), who is graduating a year early, play their last game in a Bobcat uniform.

Dettlinger put PU up 1-0 at the 6:26 mark when she took advantage of a counter attack and scored through the five-hole after Macy Rutledge delivered the pass.

Aaliyah Jackson notched her ninth goal of the season when she scored off a deflection in the 29th minute.

Dettlinger capped off scoring with a goal in the 55th.

Briggs ended her career as the school leader in wins and shutouts.

Thornton paced all players with four shots on the evening.
