Langille and Mahar Light Up Erskine in Win, 4-1

DUE WEST, S.C. --- Lees-McRae sophomore Lena Langille tallied two goals on three shots leading the women's soccer team to a 4-1 Conference Carolinas road win against Erskine Saturday afternoon in Due West, S.C.

The Bobcats (1-3, 1-0 CC) notched their first win on the season with a 22-shot effort led by Sarah Mahar (Jacksonville, Fla.) with six. The Flying Fleet (1-3, 0-1) took an early lead off the foot of Katherine Coleman.

EC snagged an early 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute when Coleman tallied her second goal of the season after receiving a pass from Katie Harrington.

Langille (Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia) collected notched the equalizer when she blasted a shot past Ashton Burgess to the lower right at the 32:19 mark.

LMC outshot Erskine 12-1 in the opening 45 minutes.

Junior Erica Allen (Norton, Ohio) flicked in a header from Mahar to give the Bobcats a lead they wouldn't relinquish in the 48th minute.

Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.) made it 3-1 at the 67:04 mark before Langille tallied her second of the evening five minutes later from Erin Barcal (Wilmington, N.C.).

Senior Kaitlyn Briggs (Oviedo, Fla.) made one save in 79:17 to earn the win.

Coach Nick Whiting's team returns to action Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Central, S.C. to battle CC newcomer Southern Wesleyan.
