Women's Soccer Drops Bout at Carson-Newman, 4-0

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. --- The Lees-McRae women's soccer team fell to Carson-Newman, 4-0, Saturday evening in nonconference play at McCown Field in Jefferson City, Tenn.

The Eagles (2-0) scored three first half goals while Varin Ness dished out three assists. The Bobcats (0-2) saw sophomore Alexis Feely (Raleigh, N.C.) turn in her second double-digit save effort of the season.

Feely amassed 13 saves, including seven in the second half.

CNU struck 88 seconds into the contest when Julianne Herrity scored her first of two goals while Ness earned the assist.

The Eagles doubled the lead at the 7:51 mark when Lauren Wade scored her second goal of the season.

Herrity and Ness linked up once more in the 25th minute to make it 3-0.

Holly Talbut-Smith snagged a pass from Herrity with 28:04 left in regulation and tallied her second goal of the season.

Senior Cheyenne Warrick (Pikeville, N.C.) record two of LMC's four shots.

CNU's Jacqueline Burns earned the win with one save.

The Bobcats travel to Cleveland, Tenn. to take on Lee Thursday, Sep. 8 at 7 p.m.
