Women's Soccer Falls in Road Contest at No. 22 Lee, 4-0

CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- The Lees-McRae women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss to No. 22 Lee University at Lee Soccer Field Thursday evening in Cleveland, Tenn.

The Flames (1-1-1) enjoyed a pair of assists from Carly Smoltz while the team scored twice in each half. The Bobcats (0-3) were led by Erin Barcal (Wilmington, N.C.), who had three shots, including one on frame.

LMC played against its third consecutive top 25 opponent and is opening the season on a seven-match road swing.

LU took a 1-0 lead after Kaela Leskovar found the back of the net after recovering a loose ball following a corner kick.

Smoltz earned her first assist of the night when she found McKenzie Bricker at the 21:00 mark.

Leskovar headed in LU's third goal after a Smoltz corner kick.

LMC's Alexis Feely (Raleigh, N.C.) made seven saves while Lena Langille (Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia) and Riley Neese (Greensboro, N.C.) made their season debuts.

The Bobcats open Conference Carolinas play Saturday, Sep. 10 at 3 p.m. with a visit to Southern Wesleyan in Central, S.C.
