Women's Soccer Upended by UNC Pembroke, 1-0

BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae women's soccer team fell to UNC Pembroke, 1-0, in a nonconference match Monday afternoon at Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.

The Braves (2-2) won their second consecutive 1-0 match. The Bobcats (2-6) had all five of their shots land on frame.

Sophomore Alexis Feely (Raleigh, N.C.) made five saves on the day and currently leads Conference Carolinas with 62 on the season.

UNCP notched the matches' lone goal at the 31:07 mark off the foot of Katie Watkins.

Watkins was in the right place at the right time and scored after a Kate Weisner header ricocheted off the crossbar and bounced to the foot of Watkins.

Katie Jo Daniel (Griffin, Ga.) nearly produced the equalizer when she started the second half with a shot, but was stoned by Gina Ryan.

Ryan made five saves, including four in the second half.

Leanne McAlexander (Huntersville, N.C.) had a shot stopped when Ryan laid out for the save.

LMC welcomes Pfeiffer on Green & Gold Recruiting Weekend Saturday, Sep. 24 for a CC match at 5 p.m. at Tate Field.
