MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team and Chowan University played to 0-0 tie Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas women's soccer action. Lees-McRae's record moves to 1-4-2 with the tie on Saturday.
The Bobcats played well defensively as it kept the high-powered Hawks' offense in check. Chowan still outshot Lees-McRae 22-9 overall, including an 11-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Hawks also registered the only five corner kicks in the match.
Individually, Lees-McRae was led by its goalkeeper Alexis Feely. Feely stopped all 11 shots she faced Saturday, which marked the second-most saves Feely has had in a match this season. While Feely kept things in check defensively, Leanne McAlexander and Riley Neese both notched a pair of shots on goal to pace the Bobcat offense. Cassie McFayden accounted for the other shot on goal for LMC.
The Bobcats will return to the pitch Wednesday evening when they travel to Hickory, N.C. to take on Lenoir-Rhyne. The start time for that match is set for 7 p.m.
