Second half goal dooms Bobcats in season opener

BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team dropped its 2018 opener to visiting Lenoir-Rhyne 1-0 at Tate Field Thursday night (Aug. 30).

Game summary - The two teams went to the half scoreless, with Alexis Feely stopping all nine L-R shots in the frame. The two teams remained scoreless into the 70th minute until Abbie Brown split several defenders and was able to beat Feely for the winner and her first of the season.

Stats rundown - LMC finished with three total shots, with Tegan Dean putting one on frame. Cassie McFayden also narrowly missed her first of the season in the 74th minute when her shot deflected off the post in the 74th minute. Feely (0-1-0) finished with 15 saves, and was able to keep her team in the match.

Up next - The Bobcats will be back at home at Tate Field on Saturday (Sept. 1) when they host Lynn University in non-conference action. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m.
