WILSON, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker at Barton College on Saturday (Oct. 20) in Conference Carolinas play.
Game Summary - Barton opened the scoring in the first 17 seconds, when Rebekah Beal's shot was saved and deflected off of LMC keeper Alexis Feely before Jordyn Brown was there to pick up the rebound and score her second of the season. Barton would dominate the offensive possession for most of the first half, before LMC would catch one break in the final minute of the half. Pali Smith found space in the box and scored her second of the season to knot the match at one and take the teams to the break. A scoreless second half that saw Feely stonewall the Bulldogs would send the match to overtime. Barton would net the winner just 23 seconds into the extra session, Barton would score on a similar play to their first goal as Hannah Beard's shot was stopped by Feely before Brown scored again to get the Bulldogs the win.
Stats Rundown - LMC totaled five shots in the contest, with two each coming from Smith and Maddie Olson and the remaining chance off the foot of Nicole Shapiro. Feely (2-10-0) made 11 saves in the loss.
