BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team will be back in action this Saturday when it visits the University of Mount Olive in a Conference Carolinas clash. Kickoff between the Bobcats and Trojans is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Last Time Out – Lees-McRae dropped a 2-1 decision to Erskine last Saturday at Tate Field. With the loss, the Bobcats move to 0-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 within conference play.
Firsts of the season –A couple Bobcats notched some firsts of 2019 last Saturday against Erskine. Pali Smith netted the team's goal, while Lindsey Fletcher picked up an assist on the play. For Smith, it marks her first goal of the season and third of her career, and for Fletcher it marked her first career point with the assist.
Boost in Conference play – The Bobcats have seen a boost in their offense since beginning Conference Carolinas play. Lees-McRae has scored three goals and has attempted 22 shots in two conference matches. In comparison, the Bobcats scored one goal and attempted 16 shots in three non-conference contests.
About Mount Olive – Mount Olive enters Saturday's tilt with the Bobcats sitting at the top of the league standings. UMO is 3-0-1 overall and a perfect 2-0-0 in league action. The Trojans own victories over Converse, Shaw and Emmanuel so far to go along with a tie against Newberry. Furthermore, Mount Olive has outscored its opponents 7-1 in those four games.
Series History vs. Mount Olive – Lees-McRae holds an all-time record of 14-9-1 against UMO dating back to 1995. The series has been historically close with 14 one-goal matches between the two programs. Mount Olive has won two straight against the Bobcats and both were by one goal.
