BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team will return to action this week with a pair of matches on the road. First, the Bobcats will journey to Tennessee to take on Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday before returning to league play on Saturday for a trip to Chowan. Wednesday's match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., while Saturday's tilt is set to begin at noon.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats dropped a close 1-0 decision to Emmanuel last Saturday in double overtime. The loss pushes Lees-McRae's record to 0-8-0 overall and 0-5-0 in league play.
Standout Day for Sanborn – Despite the loss, goalkeeper Hope Sanborn had a career day against Emmanuel on Saturday. The junior keeper made 16 saves in 17 shots faced in the contest. With her 16 saves, Sanborn's season save total moves to 58, which is the second-most in the league.
Straight Shooters – One facet for the Bobcats that has seen improvement in 2019 has been their ability to make their shots on target. 58 percent of the team's shots this fall have been on net compared to a 49 percent clip last season.
About the Opponents – Lincoln Memorial comes into this week's action with a record of 7-2-0. The Railsplitters have been especially tough on their home pitch sporting a 4-0-0 record. A player to watch for LMU this Wednesday is Jessica Cravero who paces the team with six goals.
Chowan, meanwhile, is still in search of its first win of the 2019 season with an overall record of 0-6-2. The Hawks have earned a pair of ties in Conference Carolinas play though with draws against Southern Wesleyan and Erskine. Carolina Lucci is a player to watch for the Hawks as she is a two-time All-Conference Carollinas First Team member.
Series Histories vs. Opponents - Historically, the Bobcats have winning records against both Lincoln Memorial and Chowan. LMC is 2-1-1 against the Railsplitters in four all-time meetings, while posting a 4-0-1 mark against Chowan.
