BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team will be back in action this week with a pair of Conference Carolinas matches. First, the Bobcats will travel to take on Limestone on Wednesday before returning to Banner Elk on Saturday to play host to Belmont Abbey. Wednesday's match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., while Saturday's is set to get underway at 1:30 p.m.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats dropped a 3-0 decision on the road at Chowan on Saturday. With the loss, the Bobcats move to 0-10-0 overall and 0-6-0 in conference play.
Saves Stacking Up – The tandem of Bobcat goalkeepers Hope Sanborn and Makayla Willets have combined for 103 saves this season. With just 23 more saves, it will match for the tenth-most saves in a single season for the program. Furthermore, Sanborn has 70 saves and currently ranks 23rd nationally and third in the conference.
About the Opponents – Limestone comes into Wednesday's matchup with the Bobcats with a 5-5-0 record overall and a 4-2-0 mark in league play. The Saints have been especially tough playing on their home pitch as they boast a perfect 4-0-0 record in Gaffney this season.
Belmont Abbey, meanwhile, enters the week as a part of a five-way tie for first place in the Conference Carolinas standings with 15 points. The Crusaders are 7-3-1 overall and 5-1-0 within league play in 2019. A player to watch for BAC on Saturday is Morgan Patton who leads the team with 15 points (6g, 3a) on the season.
Series Histories vs. Opponents – Lees-McRae has plenty of history between both of its opponents this week. LMC is 13-10-2 all-time against Limestone with the first meeting occurring in 1996. Belmont Abbey, meanwhile, has gone 21-8-3 against the Bobcats dating back to 1994.
