BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College swimming programs will head out on the road Saturday to take on Mars Hill. Start time for the meet between the Lions and Bobcats is set for 2 p.m.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats competed in their first-ever meet two weeks ago in Bristol, Virginia. LMC competed against Milligan and King in a tri-meet format. The women's team dropped both decisions to Milligan and King by 127.00-50.00 final tallys, while the men's team also fell twice by scores of 103.00-82.00 to the Buffaloes and 115.00-62.00 to the Tornado.
Individually, the Bobcats did see some success as they picked up five victories on the day. Three of those wins came from the men's team, and the other two came from the women's program.
Coach's Takeaway from the Tri-Meet – "The first meet is always a learning experience into collegiate swimming," said LMC Head Coach Sean Weddell. "We had some descent swims given where we are with training and this being that first meet. Jenn Paul had two good swims and was our solo double winner on the day. Arsham Mirzaei and Bailey Lupo both had good swims and individual wins, as well as helped the men's medley relay come away with a win. This season will be more about individual performances versus team wins due to the roster size of the team. It's difficult to win meets when you have half the number of swimmers, but we can definitely compete for individual and relay wins. I am really wanting to see each individual improve each meet as we go through the season."
