WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lees-McRae College swimming teams continued to show improvement Saturday on the campus of the University of Cumberlands. Overall, the Bobcats competed against six teams Saturday, and they won four of the matchups.

Team Results – The men's team picked up wins over Life University (127-71) and against Bethel University (145-53) but fell to Cumberlands (176-81). The women's squad echoed these results with victories over Life (78-76) and Bethel (99-88) but came up short against Cumberlands (183-63).

Standout Swims – Much like Friday, there were several standout swims on the day for the Bobcats. The men's squad notched a total of five individual event victories Saturday. Arsham Mirzaei (50 yard freestyle, 100 yard butterfly) and Javier Sanchez (200 yard breaststroke, 400 yard individual medley) both notched a pair of wins, while John David McCray came out on top in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.74.

The women's team, meanwhile, notched a pair of event wins of their own. Kayla Fleming won the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:39.20 and Jennifer Paul won the 500 yard freestyle with mark of 5:34.32.

Coach's Take – "Both teams continued to improve on the second day even with the longer format and the short turnaround involved with swimming multiple individual events," said Lees-McRae Head Coach Sean Weddell. "This is a very positive thing going into our final dual meet next weekend."

Next Up – The Bobcats will look to keep things rolling next Saturday when it travels to Elizabethton, Tennessee to take on three schools: Milligan, Mars Hill and King. That meet is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start time.
