Swimming picks up first team victories of the season last Saturday in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College swimming programs picked up their first team victories of the 2019-20 campaign last Saturday in Greensboro. The men's team defeated Greensboro College 145-73, while the women's team knocked off Salem College by a score of 134-49 and Greensboro College by a 133-14 final tally.

As the final scores would indicate, the Bobcats were dominant in competing against the Spirits and Pride. Lees-McRae posted the top time in 24 of the 26 events on Saturday. 11 different Bobcats picked up individual event victories, while Lees-McRae swept the four relay events as well.

"The meet allowed the team to swim events many had not competed in for a while," said LMC Head Coach Sean Weddell. "Even though we had a full practice that morning, my expectations were still high for our swims.  However, we had several swims that did not meet expectations and a few that did.  We have two more competitions before our fall focus meet in November, and I have communicated the sense of urgency in our practices and in those meets."

The Bobcats will be back in action on Nov. 2 when they make the short trip to Elizabethton, Tennessee to compete against Milligan College. That contest is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m.
