Women's Tennis Adds Two to Roster

BANNER ELK, N.C.--Lees-McRae women's tennis coach Paul Goode is pleased to announce the signing of two student-athletes for the 2008-2009 season. Jennifer Hawkins and Ashley Park will join the Lady Bobcats in August as they enroll in their first term of college.

A native of Moscow Mills, Missouri, Jennifer Hawkins played tennis at Troy Buchanan High School where she was 2nd All Conference and 4th All District at No. 1 singles her senior year and was also voted MVP by her teammates. Off the court Hawkins received the President's Education Award and was a member of the National Honor Society. The daughter of Vickie and Thomas Hawkins, she plans to major in Wildlife Rehabilitation/Marine Biology at Lees-McRae.

Ashley Park, the daughter of David and Andrea Park of Hay River, North Carolina, is a graduate of Southern Alamance High School. She earned four varsity letters in tennis and was selected to All-Conference both her junior and senior years. Her junior year Park made it to the first round of Regionals, then followed that up with a second round trip her senior year. She also served as the team's captain in 2008. Park plans to major in Athletic Training at Lees-McRae College this fall.

"I'm excited to bring in student athletes that are talented both on the court and in the classroom," stated Coach Goode. "I feel that these young women will help us reach our goals for the 2008-09 season."
