BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Pfeiffer University women's tennis team swept singles and doubles play on Friday afternoon en route to a 9-0 victory in Conference Carolinas play.
Pfeiffer's (9-11, 5-6 CC) duo of Alena Krutkina and Taylor Lindsay kicked off the afternoon with an 8-3 win against Lees-McRae's (1-12, 1-9 CC) tandem of Lyndsay Peagram (Greensboro, N.C.) and Samantha Wohlers (Windsor, Ontario, Canada), as Chelsi Haefele and Briana Oliver defeated Kelsey Hiatt (Mt. Airy, N.C.) and Raven Harris (St. Pauls, N.C.), 8-4. The Falcons were awarded the third doubles flight by default.
Krutkina opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Peagram, as Lindsay defeated Wohlers, 6-2, 6-4 in the second flight. Oliver posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Hiatt at No. 3 singles, as Haefele defeated Harris in the fourth flight. Pfeiffer was awarded the fifth and sixth flights by default.
Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Saturday when the Bobcats host Belmont Abbey College in conference play. The Bobcats will honor their senior class prior to the start of the match at 12 p.m.
