MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. --- The Mount Olive College women's tennis team swept both singles and doubles play en route to a 9-0 victory over Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas action on Friday afternoon.
Mount Olive's (7-5, 4-3 CC) duo of Francesca Ceppi and Molly Lentini opened the match with a hard-fought 8-5 victory over Lees-McRae's (0-10, 0-5 CC) tandem of Samantha Wohlers (Windsor, Ontario, Canada) and Hilary Lutz (Shelby, N.C.), before Roxanne Chouinard and Maite Belloso posted an 8-0 decision against Taylor Bost (Jefferson, Ga.) and Stevie Harrell (Morganton, N.C.) in the second flight.
Samara Paldinho and Paulina Delgado gave Mount Olive a 3-0 advantage with an 8-0 victory in the third flight against LeeAnn Sullivan (Greensboro, N.C.) and Emily Jones (Leonardtown, Md.). Lentini defeated Wohlers, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, as Ceppi clinched the team win for the Trojans with a 6-2, 6-1 decision against Lutz in the second flight.
Chouinard posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Bost in the third flight, while Belloso defeated Harrell, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Delgado registered a 6-0, 6-0 win against Sullivan at No. 5 singles, as Nicole Karas earned a hard-fought 6-3, 6-3 victory over Jones in the sixth flight.
Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Saturday when the Bobcats travel to Wilson, N.C. to take on Barton College in league play at 1 p.m.
