BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's tennis team will open the Conference Carolinas portion of its schedule this weekend with a pair of matches against Converse and Belmont Abbey. LMC will host the Valkyries Friday at 2 p.m. before facing off against the Crusaders Saturday at 11 a.m.
About the Bobcats: The Bobcats enter this weekend's action with a record of 3-2 on the season. The three victories match LMC's win total from all of last season with 12 matches to go this spring. LMC owns victories over Averett, Greensboro and Brevard but have suffered setbacks against Catawba and Lenoir-Rhyne.
About Converse: Converse comes into Friday's match with a 4-8 record overall and a 0-1 mark in conference play. The Valkyries have been playing especially well as of late winning four of their last five matches. Individually, Kaitlyn Knight leads the way with a 6-2 mark in singles action and a 4-4 record in doubles play.
About Belmont Abbey: BAC comes to Banner Elk Saturday riding a three-match winning streak. Overall, Belmont Abbey is 6-7 so far in 2016-17, including a 5-5 mark in neutral site or away matches. The Crusaders need just one more victory to match their win total from last season.
Series Rewind: Both Converse and Belmont Abbey knocked off the Bobcats last season. LMC's last win over the Valkyries was in 2011, while its last victory over Belmont Abbey was in 2015.
