HIGH POINT, N.C. - Lees-McRae College women's tennis player Sandy Allen has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis Player of the Week the league office announced this morning. Allen joins teammate Emily Harrison, who won the same award last week, as Bobcats who have earned weekly honors this season.
"Sandy as a freshman has improved tremendously during her first collegiate tennis season in record time," said LMC Head Coach Rodger Acklin. "She has developed a great American twist serve and has learned to hit a very heavy ball. She is a tireless worker and shows up every practice intent on leaving better than when she started. Sandy has shown great leadership and composure in leading the team at No. 1 singles and doubles."
Allen posted a perfect 4-0 record last week in matches against Converse and Mars Hill. Allen not only picked up a pair of singles victories out of the No. 1 spot but she also teamed with Mackenzie Langmade to earn a pair of victories out of the No. 1 doubles position as well.
Allen and the rest of the Bobcats will take a break for spring break before returning to action on March 13 when they host King. Start time for that match is set for 1 p.m.
