Women's Tennis Defeats UVA-Wise in Non-Conference Action on Sunday

WISE, Va. - The Lees-McRae College women's tennis team beat UVA-Wise in fall action on Sunday (Oct. 21) by a score of 5-2.

The Bobcats won two out of three doubles matches before winning four out of six singles matches to get the victory.

Sandy Allen and Nursharneem Shamsudd fell at No. 1 doubles 6-3, while Mackenzie Langmade and Zeynep Cakirer defeated Grace Hall and Montana Hill 6-0 at No. 2. Jaden Acklin and Rebecca Pierce defeated Aya Melhem and Lillian Morris 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.

Allen fell in straight sets 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, followed by Shamsudd dropping a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 2. Cakirer gutted out a 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 victory over Melhem at No. 3, before Langmade beat Hill in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4. Pierce won in straight sets over Hall 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 before Acklin closed things out with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6.

This concludes the fall season for LMC women's tennis.
